Indications and usage:

Ibuprofen is also in research studies to treat and prevent adult acne, orthostatic hypotension, Parkinson's disease.


Contraindications:

You should not take ibuprofen pills if you have:

  • had a strong reaction (hypersensitivity) to diclofenac, aspirin or other NSAIDs in the past
  • a stomach ulcer, or have had one in the past
  • severe heart failure
  • severe liver disease
  • been taking low-dose aspirin to prevent cardiovascular disease


    Dosage forms and strengths:

    Dosage and administration:

    Ibuprofen 200 mg tablets

    Adults and children 12 years and older:

  • Take 1 caplet every 4 to 6 hours while symptoms persist.
  • If pain or fever does not respond to 1 caplet, 2 caplets may be used.
  • Do not exceed 6 caplets in 24 hours, unless directed by a doctor.

    Children under 12 years: ask your healthcare provider.

    Precautions:

  • you have problems or serious side effects from taking pain relievers or fever reducers

    Drug interactions:

    These medicines may be affected by Ibuprofen tablets or may affect how well it works. You may need to take different amounts of your medicine, or you may need to take different medications.     Usage in specific populations:

    Pregnancy

    Do not take Ibuprofen pills if you are pregnant, or intend to become pregnant during the first 6 months of pregnancy, except on doctor's advice. Do not use at all in the last three months of pregnancy.

    Nursing mothers

    Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you are breastfeeding or intend to breastfeed. Ibuprofen tablets are not recommended during the lactation period.

    Driving or using machines

    Be careful before you drive or use any machines or tools until you know how ibupofen affects you. This medication may cause dizziness in some people. If this happens, do not drive or operate machinery.
